FAIZABAD, AFGHANISTAN — Arghand won the Argo district volleyball title on Wednesday, defeating Aten Jalo 3–1 in the final after three days of competition.

The Badakhshan office of the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports said ten teams took part. The district volleyball federation representative organised the tournament with the provincial sports department.

Arghand’s victory follows another final involving a team from the same locality. In August 2023, Jawanan Arghand reached the final of a 12-team Independence Cup in Argo but lost 2–0 to Setaregan Mughal, according to the provincial sports authority.

It is also the second recent multi-team volleyball competition reported in Badakhshan. A three-day autumn tournament in Kishm district brought together 20 teams and ended with Gandumqol Markazi beating Nowabad 3–1 in the final.

Officials said the Argo event was intended to encourage young people to play volleyball and help identify promising athletes.
