Samangan finished first and Balkh second at a full-razm martial arts competition in Aybak that brought together 120 athletes from ten Afghan provinces, the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports reported on 6 October.
Athletes competed across several categories during the one-day event. The provincial results placed the hosts ahead of Balkh, although the official report did not provide individual winners or a category-by-category breakdown.
The field included competitors from Badakhshan, Baghlan, Balkh, Faryab, Herat, Jowzjan, Kunduz, Samangan, Sar-e Pul and Takhar.
The provincial representative office of the sport’s federation organised the competition in cooperation with Samangan’s Directorate of Physical Education and Sports.
According to GDPES, the event was intended to develop the discipline and identify promising athletes. Its report did not announce selections for a provincial or national squad.
