Eighty kickboxers from different districts of Kapisa took part in the province's tenth selection tournament, competing for an opportunity to advance towards national-level competition.

The event brought together athletes from adolescent, youth and senior age categories, providing competitors from across the province with an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.

The tournament was organised by Kapisa's Directorate of Physical Education and Sports in coordination with Mohammad Shahir Ahmadi, the provincial representative of the Kickboxing Federation.

Provincial sports officials, coaches from local sports clubs and spectators attended the competition.

According to the organisers, the principal objective was to identify leading athletes for future national competitions and support the development of kickboxing in Kapisa.

The selection process is significant for competitors outside Afghanistan's major sporting centres, where provincial tournaments can provide an important route towards higher levels of competition.

However, the information available to ASJF NEWS does not identify the tournament's winners, the number of athletes selected or when successful competitors might participate in national events.

Those details will be important in assessing whether the competition produces opportunities beyond the provincial level.

The event also brought together athletes from different age groups, allowing organisers to assess both developing talent and more experienced competitors.

For participating athletes, the longer-term value of the tournament will depend on the selection decisions and the opportunities provided for continued training and competition.
