An eight-team football tournament titled the “Village Cup” has kicked off in Sang-Takht Bandar district of Daikundi province to promote youth engagement in sports.

A two week football tournament under the title Village Cup officially began on Wednesday (October 8, 2025) in Sang-Takht Bandar district, Daikundi province. The event is organized by the district representative of the Football Federation in cooperation with the Provincial Directorate of Physical Education and Sports.
Eight teams from the district center and nearby villages are competing for the title. In the opening match, Omid Pirovali defeated Malik Ishtarbeh in a thrilling 5–4 contest.
Organizers said the main goal of holding the tournament is to encourage local youth to participate in sports and strengthen community spirit through football.
