The Journalism Faculty team claimed the championship title in the Baghlan University Futsal Tournament after defeating the Faculty of Humanities 6–5 in a thrilling final match in Pul-e-Khumri.

The Baghlan University Futsal Championship concluded on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in Pul-e-Khumri, with the Journalism Faculty emerging as champions after edging past the Faculty of Humanities 6–5 in a closely contested final.

The tournament was organized by the provincial branch of the Afghanistan National Futsal Federation, in cooperation with the Baghlan Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, and featured seven teams representing various university faculties.

Officials said the 20-day competition aimed to promote sporting activities among students, enhance teamwork, and identify promising young talent for provincial and national-level competitions.

In recognition of outstanding performance, the Directorate of Sports awarded the championship trophy to the winning team and presented individual prizes to standout players in categories including best scorer, best goalkeeper, and fair play.

Futsal has become one of the most popular sports among Afghan university students in recent years, offering an accessible and fast-paced alternative to traditional football. Baghlan province, with its growing student sports programs, continues to host regular tournaments under the guidance of national federations, contributing to the development of youth sports and community engagement through athletics.
