
A volleyball selection tournament featuring 19 teams began in Sharan, Paktika Province, aimed at forming the province’s representative team.

A provincial volleyball selection tournament was inaugurated on Monday, October 13, 2025, in Sharan, the capital of Paktika Province. The event is organized by the National Volleyball Federation in cooperation with the Paktika Department of Physical Education and Sports.
Nineteen teams from across the province are participating in the 15-day competition, which seeks to identify top players for Paktika’s provincial volleyball team.
In the opening match, Zwak defeated Zawol with a clear 2–0 set victory to claim the first win of the tournament.
Organizers said the tournament aims to encourage local youth participation in sports, enhance volleyball’s popularity, and strengthen athletic cooperation among districts of the province.
Volleyball remains one of the most popular sports in southeastern Afghanistan, particularly in provinces like Paktika. Selection tournaments such as this play an important role in discovering skilled players and preparing them for national-level competitions.
