More than 100 wushu athletes from clubs across Kabul have entered an autumn tournament designed to give competitors valuable match experience and identify emerging talent in the capital.

The one-day competition has brought together athletes from 56 clubs and is being organised by the national wushu federation in coordination with Kabul’s Physical Education and Sports Directorate.

Competition is being held in Sanda, wushu’s full-contact fighting discipline, with athletes taking part across different age and weight divisions.

Organisers have divided the field into children’s, adolescent, youth and adult categories, allowing competitors to face opponents within their respective age and weight groups.

There is also a competitive pathway attached to the tournament. Athletes who produce the strongest performances will earn places in Kabul’s selection competitions.

Organisers said the event was arranged to help athletes gain experience, encourage greater participation and provide an opportunity to identify promising competitors.

The tournament is scheduled to conclude after one day of competition.
