A two-month football tournament featuring 16 teams began in Kunduz on Saturday as part of preparations to identify clubs for next year’s top provincial league.
The competition opened at the Spin Zar Sports Stadium, jointly organized by the Directorate of Physical Education and Sport and the Afghanistan Football Federation’s provincial branch. In the first match, Emmat Jawanan defeated Samimiyat 3–2 in a closely contested game.
Officials said the tournament aims to select a team for the 1405 Premier League and strengthen competitive football across the province.
