A district-level futsal tournament featuring 13 teams from Ghazni’s center and surrounding districts has kicked off in Jaghatu, in what officials describe as an effort to strengthen unity among young athletes and create a healthy environment for youth engagement.
The competition is organized by the provincial branch of the Afghanistan Football Federation in cooperation with the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports. Officials said holding the tournament in Jaghatu reflects the growing spread of futsal beyond the provincial center and the increasing interest of local communities in organizing structured sporting events.
In the opening match, Shamsuddin defeated Bijaja 3–1, securing the first victory of the competition. Organizers said such events help connect athletes from different parts of the province and offer young people a constructive outlet at a time when recreational opportunities remain limited.
District-level futsal tournaments have expanded across Ghazni in recent years, becoming a key platform for talent development and community cohesion. Local sports representatives say these events play an important role in promoting social connection, discipline and youth participation in a challenging environment.
