Manchester United are in advanced talks with Michael Carrick about becoming the club’s interim head coach, with reports in Britain saying discussions have been positive and an announcement could come within the next 24 to 48 hours.

Carrick has emerged as the leading option ahead of other candidates, including Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to multiple reports.

Sky Sports and ESPN reported that negotiations are continuing, with part of the talks focused on Carrick’s coaching staff and the timing of a final agreement.

Carrick previously served as a short-term caretaker at United in 2021 and later worked as a manager in the Championship.
