The Afghanistan Football Federation has appointed Serbian coach Dejan Đedović as the new head coach of the national futsal team.

Đedović brings extensive coaching experience, having worked with futsal clubs and national teams in Lebanon, Tajikistan, the United Arab Emirates, and China. He also previously served as head coach of the Tajikistan national futsal team.

Iranian coach Javad Asghari Moghadam will join the national team’s technical staff as assistant coach and technical director. The new coaching team arrived in Kabul on Sunday to finalize contracts with the Afghanistan Football Federation and is expected to begin preparations for Afghanistan’s participation in the upcoming Thailand Intercontinental Tournament.

The appointments mark a new chapter for Afghanistan’s national futsal program as the federation seeks to strengthen the team’s performance on the international stage.

Following the announcement of the new coaching staff, former assistant coach of the national futsal team, Mohammad Haidari, reacted to the decision. Haidari, who spent several years working alongside former head coach Majid Mortezaei, was not included in the new technical team.

His exclusion prompted discussion among futsal followers, with some emphasizing that changes in coaching staff are a normal part of professional sport and that no position within a team is permanent. Supporters of the decision have also called for respect toward the federation’s management and its efforts to develop the national futsal program.
