Senior officials from Afghanistan’s sports authority and football federation attended the Afghanistan Zonal Football Championship in Helmand Province, where they praised the tournament’s successful organization as Herat’s Omar Zwak FC secured a 2-0 victory over Helmand’s Barak FC.

Senior officials from Afghanistan’s General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports and the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) attended the Afghanistan Zonal Football Championship in Helmand Province on Thursday, reaffirming their support for the development of football nationwide.

The delegation was led by Ahmadullah Wasiq, Director General of the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, alongside Mohammad Yousuf Kargar, President of the Afghanistan Football Federation. They were accompanied by Hafiz Ahmad Jan Zadran, Technical Deputy of the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports and the AFF, Dad Mohammad Payenda Akhtari, Director of Olympic Affairs, and Mohammad Nasir Rahmani, Executive Committee Member and Head of the AFF Futsal Committee.

During their visit, the officials observed the ongoing zonal championship and commended the tournament organizers for successfully staging the competition. They described the event as an important platform for identifying emerging football talent and promoting the continued growth of the sport in Afghanistan.

In the day’s featured match, Omar Zwak FC of Herat defeated Barak FC of Helmand 2-0, strengthening the Herat side’s campaign in the Afghanistan Zonal Football Championship.

The championship brings together clubs and teams from different regions of the country, providing players with valuable competitive experience while contributing to the development of domestic football.

The Afghanistan Zonal Football Championship is one of the country’s premier domestic football competitions, bringing together representative teams from various regions to compete for national honours. The tournament also serves as a key platform for talent identification and supports the Afghanistan Football Federation’s efforts to strengthen grassroots football and enhance the standard of the domestic game.
