Ghazni’s athletes won the second South-West Zone boxing championship following three days of competition in Ghazni city, Afghanistan’s General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports said.
The tournament brought together 50 boxers representing Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Bamyan, Paktia, Paktika and Khost provinces.
Competitors participated in youth and adult divisions. Ghazni secured first place in the overall standings, while Maidan Wardak finished second.
The national sports authority said the competition was organised to identify leading boxers and strengthen sporting cooperation among the participating provinces.
The event began earlier this week and concluded on September 8. Complete individual results, weight divisions and medal totals were not included in the official announcement.
Bakhtar News Agency separately reported the same number of competitors and confirmed Ghazni’s championship and Maidan Wardak’s runner-up finish.
