The draw places the Afghan national beach soccer team in a demanding group as they prepare to compete against three established Asian opponents.
According to the Asian Football Confederation, 12 teams will compete in the tournament after being divided into three groups. The draw was conducted at AFC House in Kuala Lumpur.
Iran enter the competition as the defending champions, making Afghanistan’s Group B campaign particularly challenging. Matches against Lebanon and Vietnam will also be important as Afghanistan target progress to the knockout stage.
The tournament will be staged in Thailand, with Afghanistan seeking to build on the country’s growing profile in Asian football and futsal competitions.
