Afghanistan’s national boxing team has departed for China to compete in an international boxing event scheduled to begin on September 14.
According to information released by Afghanistan’s sports administration, seven Afghan boxers are travelling for the competition alongside coaches and a delegation representative.
The athletes are also scheduled to take part in a two-day training camp before the competition begins.
The event will be hosted in Xinjiang, China, with competition scheduled to run from September 14 until September 30.
The trip gives the Afghan boxers an opportunity to gain international competition experience against opponents outside the country.
The original announcement describes the travelling group as a nine-member team but separately lists seven athletes, two coaches and one delegation representative, which would total 10 people. ASJFNEWS has therefore not stated a total delegation number pending clarification from the source.
