Ariana Khost survived a late Sarsabz Yashlar comeback to win 2–1 in the 20th match of the sixth Afghanistan Champions League season in Kabul on Thursday.
After a goalless first half, the match turned in the space of three minutes.
Sarsabz Yashlar defender Feroz Rahmani accidentally headed the ball into his own net in the 74th minute while attempting a clearance, handing Ariana Khost the lead.
Waris Shirzai doubled the advantage in the 77th minute, leaving Sarsabz Yashlar with little time to recover.
The Faryab side responded in the 87th minute through Farid Ahmad Hussainzada, whose long-range strike reduced the deficit to one goal.
Ariana Khost protected their narrow lead through the closing minutes to secure all three points.
Alireza Rahimi of Ariana Khost was named Player of the Match.
Both teams return to action on September 28. Ariana Khost will face Sorkh Poshan Khafi, while Sarsabz Yashlar will meet Arman FC.
