Abu Muslim Farah returned to winning ways with a 2–0 victory over Khorasan Faryab on Saturday, closing the fifth week of the Roshan Afghanistan Champions League in fourth place.

The Farah club went into the match looking to recover from their first defeat of the season, a 2–0 loss to leaders Sorkh Poshan Khafi. Victory over Khorasan took Abu Muslim to ten points from five matches and kept them three points behind second-placed Omar Zawak and Ariana Khost.

Iranian player Milad Kermani was named Player of the Match as Abu Muslim registered their third victory of the campaign.

The result leaves Abu Muslim with three wins, one draw and one defeat. Their unbeaten start included a goalless draw against Ariana Khost before Khafi ended that run.

Khafi, meanwhile, finished the fifth week with five victories from five matches. The Herat club have scored 16 goals and conceded only once, opening a two-point lead over Omar Zawak and Ariana Khost, who both have 13 points.

For Khorasan, the defeat extended a difficult start to the season. The Faryab club remain ninth with one point from five matches, ahead of Istiqlal Kabul, who have yet to collect a point.

The league’s leading scorer after five weeks is Shadab Malikzada with seven goals. Nawid Mahbubi, Enayatullah Kohi and Sohrab Afghan follow with four each.

Abu Muslim’s next test comes against Omar Zawak, one of the two clubs immediately above them in the standings.
