India lead the three-match series 1–0 after chasing Afghanistan’s 157-run target in 13.4 overs on Sunday. Afghanistan had recovered to 156 for eight after slipping from 38 for one to 43 for five, with Azmatullah Omarzai unbeaten on 64 and Mohammad Nabi adding 33.
The second match gives Ibrahim Zadran’s side an immediate opportunity to address the middle-order collapse that left too much pressure on the lower order in the opening game.
Afghanistan are the designated hosts for the series, although all three matches are being played in New Delhi. The Afghanistan Cricket Board and BCCI confirmed the September 13, 15 and 17 schedule last month.
Pajhwok reported on Tuesday morning, citing the ACB, that the second T20I will be played at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. India can secure the series with another victory, while Afghanistan need a win to force a deciding third match on Thursday.
