Afghanistan have begun their final preparations for the one-off Test against Bangladesh, with the national side returning to training ahead of Friday’s match.

The Afghan players have started their practice programme with attention now turning fully to red-ball cricket and the demands of the five-day format.

The match against Bangladesh will be Afghanistan’s next international assignment and allows the squad to test its red-ball preparations against another Asian Test nation.

Unlike a multi-match series, the one-off format leaves little room for recovery from a poor session or difficult opening day. Afghanistan will therefore enter Friday’s contest with every phase of preparation carrying added importance.

The training period will also allow the squad to adjust from limited-overs cricket to the longer demands of Test cricket, where batting time, sustained bowling spells and patience across sessions become central to the contest.

Afghanistan and Bangladesh have developed increasing familiarity across international formats, but the Test match presents a different challenge as the Afghan side seeks to translate its progress into the five-day game.

The match is scheduled to begin on Friday, with Afghanistan now using the remaining days to complete preparations before returning to Test action.
