NANGARHAR — Eighteen shortlisted Afghanistan U19 cricketers are taking part in a final training camp in Nangarhar as selectors move closer to choosing squads for upcoming international competitions.
The camp at the Najibullah Tarakai Cricket Ground and Academy began on September 7 and is scheduled to continue until September 28.
The 18 players were selected following earlier training camps conducted in Khost, Nangarhar and Kabul for Afghanistan’s U19 national-team prospects.
Alongside regular training sessions, the players will take part in intra-squad practice matches during the camp, giving them an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in match situations.
The programme represents an important stage in the selection process for Afghanistan’s next U19 squad.
After the camp concludes, selectors are expected to choose and announce the final group for a bilateral series against Bangladesh and the U19 Asia Cup.
Dates for those competitions have not yet been announced in the information released with the camp update.
The three-week Nangarhar programme therefore gives the shortlisted players a final extended opportunity to compete for places before Afghanistan’s next U19 international assignments.
