Eight-Province Volleyball Tournament Opens in Paktika

Twenty-two teams from eight Afghan provinces have begun a five-day volleyball tournament in Sharana, Paktika. Zawal Hemat defeated Academy 2–1 in the opening match.

A five-day volleyball tournament involving 22 teams from eight Afghan provinces has begun in Sharana, the capital of Paktika province.

The provincial Volleyball Federation’s representative office organised the competition under the Paktika Physical Education and Sports Directorate. Dr Abdul Ghani Sarapa Clinic provided financial support for the event.

Teams from Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Kabul, Khost, Nangarhar, Logar, Paktia and host province Paktika are participating.

Zawal Hemat defeated Academy by two sets to one in the opening match to secure the tournament’s first victory.

Organisers said the competition was established to identify emerging talent and support the development of volleyball.

The tournament is scheduled to continue for five days. The announcement did not provide the complete fixture list or explain the competition format.
