England and Australia secured wins in their final warm-up matches ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, defeating India and the West Indies, respectively.

England claimed a thrilling five-run victory over India in their final ICC Women’s T20 World Cup warm-up match at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

Half-centuries from captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and Amy Jones guided England to a competitive total of 171 for 6 in 20 overs. Jones scored 64 runs, while Sciver-Brunt contributed 57.

In reply, India fell just short despite an outstanding knock of 68 runs from Richa Ghosh. England spinner Linsey Smith played a crucial role with three wickets as India were dismissed for 166 in 19.5 overs.

In the day’s other warm-up fixture, defending champions Australia defeated the West Indies by six wickets.

The West Indies posted 131 all out in 20 overs, with Deandra Dottin top-scoring with 46 runs. Australia’s bowlers, led by Ashleigh Gardner and Lucy Hamilton, helped restrict the Caribbean side to a modest total.

Australia comfortably chased the target in just 15 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 77 from opener Georgia Voll. Beth Mooney also made a quick 34 before retiring.

The victories provide England and Australia with positive momentum heading into the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
