Jawanan defeated Yaran 2-1 in the final to win the 12-team “Towards Victory” football tournament in Gereshk district of Helmand province.
The final was played at the Abul Fath Bosti High School sports ground, concluding a group-format competition that lasted one month.
Ehsanullah received the award for the tournament’s best player, Faisal Ahmad was named the leading scorer and Mohammad Maqsood earned the best goalkeeper award.
The leading teams and individual award winners received prizes and gifts during the closing ceremony.
Organizers said the tournament was included in their annual programme and was intended to encourage unity and positive recreational activity. Financial backers of the participating teams covered the competition’s costs.
The Gereshk district sports administration organized the tournament under the Helmand Directorate of Physical Education and Sports.
