Mawlawi Obaidul Haq Zahir, head of Panjshir’s Olympic, Sports and Physical Education Department, said the tournament was being held in the province for the first time and that young people had shown strong interest in participating.
Local officials said a range of sports are active in different parts of Panjshir, with young people taking part in sporting activities during their free time.
The provincial administration said it was working to expand sporting opportunities for young people and described such activities as part of efforts to discourage drug use.
