Qushtepa and Akhowat advanced to the final of the inaugural Afghanistan Wrestling Premier League after securing victories in the semi-finals on the seventh day of the competition.
The day’s action featured 40 wrestlers competing in 20 bouts, with each team fielding 10 wrestlers.
In the first semi-final, Qushtepa faced Setaraha, while Akhowat took on Fateh in the second.
Following the results, Qushtepa and Akhowat earned places in the championship final, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the defeated teams, Fateh and Setaraha, will meet on Wednesday in the third-place playoff.
The inaugural league is part of efforts by the Afghanistan Wrestling Federation to strengthen domestic competition, provide wrestlers with regular high-level contests and identify promising talent for future national events.
The Afghanistan Wrestling Premier League is the country’s top domestic wrestling competition, bringing together leading teams and wrestlers from across the country. The tournament aims to enhance the standard of the sport, increase competitive opportunities and support the long-term development of wrestling in Afghanistan.
