Rashid Khan is back at the top of the ICC men’s T20I bowling rankings for an eighth spell. The Afghanistan leg-spinner also retains the ODI bowling lead.

Rashid Khan holds a two-point lead over Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed in the latest T20I bowling table, reversing the pair’s positions two weeks after the Afghan spinner lost first place.

The ICC confirmed the switch in its 7 October rankings release. Abrar’s returns of none for 29 in the Asian Games semi-final and one for 29 in the final were insufficient to preserve his lead, the governing body said.

The change follows Rashid’s loss of first place on 23 September, when Abrar moved one rating point ahead of him on 736. That update ended a six-month spell at No. 1 for Rashid after Afghanistan’s series against India.

Rashid now has 720 T20I rating points to Abrar’s 718, according to the ICC rankings table. Adam Zampa is third on 700, followed by Adil Rashid on 695 and Nathan Ellis on 675.

The ICC said he has spent more than twice as long at No. 1 as any other T20I bowler.

The ODI table dated 6 October also places Rashid first, on 714 points. Abrar is second on 675, a gap of 39 points, with South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj third on 660.
