Red Crescent claimed the Kabul Basketball Cup title after defeating Kabul Education University by 105–65 points in the final, the Afghanistan General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports said on Thursday.
The championship match completed a three-day competition involving five teams at the Kabul Education University gymnasium.
Red Crescent finished first in the final standings, followed by Kabul Education University in second place and Kabul Polytechnic University in third.
The tournament was organized by the national basketball federation in coordination with the Kabul Directorate of Physical Education and Sports. Obaidullah Arghandiwal, president of the basketball federation, attended the competition.
The organizing body said the event was intended to provide competitive opportunities and help identify basketball talent in the capital.
The official report confirmed the final score and the top three teams but did not publish individual player statistics, leading scorers, match-by-match results or complete team rosters. ASJFNEWS has therefore not attributed the victory to any individual performance.
The result concerns the Kabul Basketball Cup and is separate from a volleyball tournament bearing a similar Kabul Cup title.
