Six Nations to Compete in Morocco for Two Places in 2027 Women’s World Cup Final Play-Offs
Rabat will host six national teams from 28 November to 5 December 2026 in the preliminary phase of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 Play-Off Tournament, with only two progressing. Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei will represent Asia in the nine-match competition alongside Ecuador, Ghana, Papua New Guinea and South Africa.

Six women's national football teams will compete in Rabat, Morocco, from 28 November to 5 December 2026 for two places in the final phase of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 Play-Off Tournament.
FIFA confirmed that Chinese Taipei, Ecuador, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, South Africa and Uzbekistan will take part in the preliminary competition at the Mohammed VI Football Complex.
The tournament will feature nine matches, with each team playing three times. The two highest-placed teams in the overall standings will advance to the final play-off phase, scheduled for February 2027.
The qualifying places are particularly significant for the two Asian representatives, Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei, who will face opponents from other confederations in their pursuit of a place at the next Women's World Cup.
Uzbekistan will begin against Papua New Guinea, while Chinese Taipei will face South Africa. Ghana and Ecuador will meet in the other opening-round fixture.
The format leaves little room for setbacks. With only three matches per team, results across the preliminary phase will determine which two nations remain in contention for qualification.
The final phase will take place in February 2027, although advancing from the preliminary competition will not itself guarantee a place at the World Cup.
The 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup will be staged in Brazil, marking the first time the women's tournament has been held in South America.
The Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat has experience hosting international women's football competitions and is also serving as a venue for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
FIFA's confirmation of the dates, venue and participating nations establishes the next stage of the qualification pathway, with six teams now preparing for a competition that will eliminate four of them from the play-off process.
