
KABUL, November 6, 2020 – The Afghanistan Sports Journalists’ Federation (ASJF) has held its fourth Congress on November 5 in Kabul with the theme “Sports Media in the hard time of Corona”.
Sports organization officials of the country, athletes and ASJF members from different provinces were part of the one-day event. The secretary general of the Afghanistan Football Federation discussed the importance of the sports media, while the journalists expressed their problems in the hard time of the coronavirus pandemic.
AIPS president Gianni Merlo sent an encouraging video message to Afghanistan and the congress attendees. The ASJF remains grateful to AIPS for its continuous support.
In the second part of the congress Afghanistan cricket board had a media forum for provincial journalists about cricket in the country.
Then, journalists discussed their problems with sports organizations and asked for their support while giving information about their activities.
In the last part of the event, the Congress confirmed Khoshhal Taib as the new president in the absence of ASJF president Sayer Zaland. Zaland, who is the founder of the association, will now occupy the position of senior vice president of the organization.
For the first time, ASJF decided to establish a women sports journalists committee and Freshta Austova would lead the committee for the next four years.
Ferouz Mashoof will be the first vice president and Sifat Samoon the secretary general of Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation for next four years.
At the same time, the membership of journalists who were repeatedly damaging the face of the federation and did not take part in the EC committee meeting was revoked.
The Afghanistan Cricket board, Afghanistan Football Federation and UNFPA were the sponsors of the ASJF Congress with the aim of supporting the sports media in the country.
ASJF presented plaques with the logos of ASJF and AIPS to ANOC, ACB and AFF officials for their continuous support to the Afghanistan Sports Journalists’ Federation.
