Kabul: Haroon Hazin, a prominent and experienced football journalist in Afghanistan, has been appointed as the new Head of the Football Committee at the Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation (ASJF).

Hazin, a formal member of the federation, has built a remarkable track record over the years in specialized football reporting across various media outlets. His extensive coverage of the national football and futsal teams has earned him a distinguished position within the country’s sports journalism community.

Khoshhal Taib, President of ASJF, commented: “Haroon Hazin, with his experience and expertise, can play a pivotal role in enhancing media coverage and information dissemination in Afghan football, and serve as an inspiration for young sports journalists.”

Ilyas Niazi, a senior ASJF member, added: “There is no doubt that Hazin will succeed; his presence in the sports journalism community of our country is a valuable asset.”

Hazin, together with his colleagues working in football across Afghanistan, has officially started his duties within the committee. This appointment is expected to contribute significantly to improving media coverage, facilitating sports reporting, and supporting the development of football in the Afghan sports journalism landscape.

Sayer Zaland is an Afghan sports journalist and media professional, Founder of the Afghanistan Sports Journalists Federation (ASJF). Since 2014, he has worked to strengthen independent media in Afghanistan, representing over 100 members nationwide. He continues to advocate for free press, inclusivity, and international cooperation for Afghan journalists.
