Abu Muslim Afghanistan manager Ghulam Farooq Barakzai says no domestic media outlet has so far agreed to cover 50% of the cost of obtaining broadcasting rights for the club’s Asian Challenge League playoff match. Abu Muslim, Afghanistan’s only representative in the 2026 Asian Challenge League, is scheduled to face Bhutanese club Paro FC in a one-off playoff match next Tuesday.

Ghulam Farooq Barakzai, manager of Abu Muslim Afghanistan, said the club has yet to find a domestic broadcaster willing to contribute half of the cost required to secure permission to broadcast the match in Afghanistan.
Barakzai said the amount involved is not substantial but that no domestic media organization has so far agreed to cover 50% of the cost.
Abu Muslim are scheduled to face Paro FC of Bhutan in the one-match playoff next Tuesday, with the winner progressing in the Asian competition.
The lack of a domestic broadcaster means it remains unclear whether supporters in Afghanistan will be able to watch the country’s sole representative in its bid to advance in the Asian competition.
