The Asian Football Confederation has signed a scouting-rights agreement with sports-technology company Catapult, expanding professional access to video from AFC competitions.
Under the agreement, clubs, national federations, coaches and scouts will be able to use Catapult’s platform to view match footage and performance information. The AFC said the service is intended to support player evaluation, analysis and talent identification.
The rights package runs through the conclusion of the 2028/29 season. It includes the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027, AFC Champions League Elite, AFC Champions League Two, AFC Women’s Champions League and AFC U23 Asian Cup Japan 2028, together with the confederation’s under-20 and under-17 competitions.
AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John said wider access to video and data could help showcase Asian players and create additional development pathways.
Catapult Vice-President of Global Partnerships Kieran Dannatt said the platform would offer scouts multi-angle footage intended to make talent assessment faster and clearer. The company says its coverage now extends to more than 150 leagues and competitions worldwide.
Asia Football Group, the AFC’s commercial agency for competitions from 2023 to 2028, also welcomed the agreement.
The announcement did not disclose the financial terms, detailed licensing conditions or the date on which all competition footage will become available to users.
