Preparations Reflect Structured Approach Despite Competitive Pressures

Nangarhar | By Lima Tabish

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced that the second phase of preparations for the upcoming matches against India will begin on Thursday in Nangarhar, as part of a structured training program aimed at strengthening squad readiness.

Players are expected to train for two days before being divided into two squads for a series of three intra-squad matches, each scheduled over three days. The format is designed to simulate competitive conditions and assess player performance ahead of international fixtures.

The decision to organize extended intra-squad matches highlights a growing emphasis on match preparedness and internal competition within the national setup. In the absence of frequent high-level international exposure, such training structures have become critical tools for maintaining performance standards and tactical cohesion.

Afghanistan’s cricket development has increasingly relied on centralized training camps and internal matches to bridge gaps in international scheduling, reflecting broader challenges in sustaining competitive continuity while navigating logistical and structural constraints.
