Afghanistan’s two-member Zurkhaneh sports team is set to leave for Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Friday to compete in an international Pahlavani Zurkhaneh event.

Afghanistan’s two-member Zurkhaneh sports team will travel to Bishkek on Friday to participate in the world Pahlavani Zurkhaneh competition in Kyrgyzstan.
The Afghan delegation consists of one athlete and one official and will participate in Zurkhaneh wrestling and heavy meel events in the over-90-kilogram category.
The team’s participation is being supported by Afghanistan’s General Directorate of the National Olympic Committee, Physical Education and Sports.
Before departure, the delegation met Mawlawi Abdul Naser Hashemi, the director of finance and administration, and Mufti Dad Mohammad Baryal Atayi, the director of Dawat and Guidance.
Sports officials wished the Afghan representatives success in the competition.
The competition is scheduled from Aug. 28 to Sept. 7 in Bishkek, with athletes representing more than 40 countries.
