Ariana Khost turned a level halftime contest into a 3–1 victory over Arman FC on Saturday as the sixth season of the Afghanistan Champions League continued in Kabul.
The two teams went into the halftime interval level at 1–1, leaving the match open heading into the second half.
Ariana Khost then scored twice after the break to secure the three points in their opening match of the new campaign.
The result provided an encouraging start for the Khost side, one of the new teams competing in the sixth season of Afghanistan’s top domestic football competition.
Earlier on Saturday, Sorkh Poshan Khafi began their campaign with a 3–0 win over Aino Mina.
Yar Mohammad Zekrkhail scored Sorkh Poshan’s opening goal before his side added two further goals to complete the victory.
The result also extended Sorkh Poshan’s recent advantage over Aino Mina. Before Saturday’s match, Sorkh Poshan had beaten the same opponents 3–2 during the previous Champions League season.
Saturday’s two results completed the fourth and fifth matches of the new season and gave both Sorkh Poshan and Ariana Khost winning starts.
The league continues on Monday, when Abu Muslim Farah face Istiqlal Kabul at 3:30 p.m., followed by Omar Zawak against Sarsabz Yashlar at 7:00 p.m.
