Three cyclists claimed first place in separate events as 50 athletes took part in a competition organised by Afghanistan’s National Cycling Federation in Jalalabad on Friday.

Mohammad Naser Miakhel won the freestyle event, Mohammad Baqer Ebrahimi finished first in the mountain cycling category, and Naqibullah took the top position in the road discipline, according to the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports.

The competition, held in the capital of Nangarhar province, was organised by the National Cycling Federation with financial support from ATOMA Telecommunications.

Friday’s programme followed the road and mountain cycling races held on Thursday over a 150-kilometre route from Kabul to Jalalabad.

The two-day programme brought together road racing and freestyle cycling, with winners recognised in three disciplines.
