More than 100 athletes compete in Kabul tournament as 10 champions crowned across five age groups.

The Kabul Badminton Championship 2026 concluded at the 2,500-seat gymnasium of the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, following five days of competition among more than 100 athletes from four منتخب teams.

Organized by the National Badminton Federation with financial support from the Najib Talash Charity Foundation, the tournament featured competitions across five age categories: U13, U15, U17, U19, and 20+.

At the end of the event, two athletes from each category were crowned champions, bringing the total number of title winners to 10.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy Technical and Professional Director Hafiz Ahmad Jan Zadran highlighted the significant progress of Afghan athletes in recent years, attributing the growth of sports not only in provincial centers but also in ولسوالیو (districts) to improved security and institutional support.

He also acknowledged the financial backing of the Talash Charity Foundation and the role of National Sport Television in broadcasting the event.

The closing ceremony was attended by senior sports officials, representatives from Russia, Türkiye, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, along with federation leaders and athletes.

Badminton continues to develop steadily in Afghanistan, with structured competitions and external support playing a key role in expanding participation and identifying emerging talent across different age groups.
