Kabul secured first place at the fifth edition of the Golden Belt Qowat Al-Rami competition, which concluded in Maidan Shahr, the capital of Maidan Wardak province, on Saturday, October 17.

Bamyan finished second and Zabul took third place in the three-day event, organised by the National Qowat Al-Rami Federation and hosted by Maidan Wardak.

According to the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (GDPS), 150 athletes from eight provinces participated in the championship.

The competing provinces were Kabul, Ghazni, Daikundi, Bamyan, Kapisa, Logar, Zabul and Maidan Wardak.

The tournament brought athletes from several parts of Afghanistan to Maidan Shahr for the fifth edition of the Golden Belt competition.

Kabul emerged as the leading province in the final standings, followed by Bamyan and Zabul.

The national federation organised the competition with the stated aim of promoting Qowat Al-Rami and encouraging its development.

The event also provided athletes from the eight participating provinces with an opportunity to compete beyond their local sporting programmes.

The GDPS report confirmed the provincial standings and participation figures but did not provide individual medal results, weight categories or the names of Golden Belt winners.

The championship concluded after three days, with Kabul taking the overall top position.
