Rashid Khan’s Kandahar Visit Extends Beyond Cricket

Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan has used a visit to his home province of Kandahar to take part in two private development projects, opening a 50-apartment residential complex and laying the foundation stone for a 30-storey shopping mall. The appearances highlight the cricketer’s growing public profile beyond the boundary as one of Afghanistan’s most internationally recognised athletes.

Afghanistan cricket star Rashid Khan has used a visit to Kandahar for engagements beyond the sport, opening a new residential complex and laying the foundation stone for a 30-storey commercial development.

During the visit, Rashid inaugurated the Emar residential complex, a development comprising 50 apartments.

He also laid the foundation stone for a planned 30-storey Emar Shopping Mall.

The appearances put one of Afghanistan’s most internationally recognised sports figures into a public role outside cricket, with Rashid lending his presence to the launch of private development projects in Kandahar.

For Rashid, whose public identity has largely been built through his performances for Afghanistan and in major international cricket competitions, the Kandahar engagements represent another example of his visibility extending beyond the cricket field.

No details were provided about Rashid’s financial or ownership involvement in either development, and his participation should therefore be understood as part of the inauguration and foundation-stone ceremonies rather than evidence of an investment role.
