Samim Mobile have won Ghor province’s first-division futsal championship after beating Ettefaq Habibzada 3–2 in the final in Firozkoh, according to Afghanistan’s General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (GDPES).

The championship brought together seven teams and concluded after two weeks of competition organised by the provincial football federation’s representatives in cooperation with the Ghor physical education and sports office.

The one-goal margin decided the title, but the competition had another purpose beyond identifying the champions.

According to GDPES, organisers also intended to identify talented players who could form part of a provincial selection team.

That objective gives the tournament significance beyond the final result. Provincial competitions provide an opportunity for players outside Afghanistan’s principal sporting centres to demonstrate their abilities in organised matches.

However, the official report did not identify individual goalscorers or announce which players had been selected for the provincial team.

Samim Mobile therefore leave the competition as confirmed champions, while any subsequent selection decisions remain to be announced.
