Experienced FIFA-certified referee instructor and former VAR trainee Shakirullah Ebrahimi has been appointed to lead the Afghanistan Football Federation’s Referees Committee.

The Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) has appointed experienced football official Shakirullah Ebrahimi as the new Head of its Referees Committee, entrusting him with overseeing referee development and officiating standards across the country.
Ebrahimi has been actively involved in football refereeing since 2012 and participated in a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) training programme in South Korea in 2018. Since 2019, he has served as an instructor for Afghan football referees, contributing to the education and capacity building of match officials nationwide.
A graduate of Ahmad Shah Baba High School in Kandahar and the Physical Education Department of Kandahar University, Ebrahimi also worked as an honorary lecturer at the university for two years.
He holds several internationally recognized FIFA qualifications, including a FIFA C Coaching Licence, a FIFA Goalkeeping Coaching Certificate, and a Futsal Refereeing Certificate, alongside completing numerous refereeing, goalkeeping, English language and computer training courses.
Throughout his career, Ebrahimi has held several leadership positions within Kandahar football, including Head of the Referees Committee, Head of the Goalkeepers Committee, Head of the Youth Committee, Head of the Futsal Committee, Head of the Judicial Committee, Financial and Administrative Officer, and Technical Deputy of the Kandahar Football Federation.
The appointment reflects the federation’s continued efforts to strengthen refereeing standards and support the professional development of match officials in Afghan football.
