A regional football tournament featuring six provincial teams has begun in Nangarhar as part of the qualification process for Afghanistan’s Champions League.

The Afghanistan Football Federation, in cooperation with the Nangarhar Department of Physical Education and Sports, has launched the Southeast Zone Football Tournament at the provincial central stadium.

Teams from Khost, Maidan Wardak, Laghman, Nuristan, Paktia, and the host province, Nangarhar, are participating in the competition.

In the opening match, Khost Ariana delivered a dominant performance, defeating Maidan Wardak Zioulat 9–0 to secure its first victory of the tournament.

The competition is being held to determine the Southeast Zone representative for the next stage of Afghanistan’s Champions League. The tournament is expected to continue for approximately two weeks.

Regional qualification tournaments are organized across Afghanistan to identify the strongest teams for advancement to the national Champions League. The competitions also provide opportunities for local players to showcase their talent and gain competitive experience.
