Three international Afghan Kurash referees — Sediqullah Nemat, Asadullah Tajik and Ajmal Ishaqzai — have been selected to officiate at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
The Games are scheduled to begin on Sept. 9 and continue through Oct. 4, with Japan serving as the host nation.
Athletes from more than 45 countries are expected to compete across 41 sports during the event.
The selection of the three Afghan officials will see Afghanistan represented in Kurash refereeing at the continental competition.
Kurash is a traditional wrestling discipline contested internationally and at major continental sporting events. The Asian Games bring together athletes and officials from across Asia in a multisport competition.
