According to a statement published by the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF), the national team’s Asian Cup qualifying match against Myanmar, originally set for November 18, 2025, in Bangladesh, has been postponed.

The AFF said the change followed an official request by the Myanmar Football Federation to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), citing logistical and diplomatic issues between Bangladesh and Myanmar. The AFC subsequently approved the postponement and rescheduled the match for March 26, 2026, with the new venue to be announced later.

The federation added that Afghanistan will also play Syria on March 31, 2026, in the return leg of the same qualifying stage.

“The team’s preparations will continue as planned, and we are in contact with the AFC regarding the updated schedule,” the AFF said in its statement.

The Asian Cup qualifiers will determine which teams advance to the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, as Afghanistan aims to secure qualification for only the second time in its history.
